III. Introduction to campus network
On the campus of Hohai University, there are two ways to access the Internet (wireless and wired) through the SAM authentication and billing system.
1. Wireless access
Wireless network: Hohai University. Access to the wireless network requires authentication. (CMCC-EDU still available on Changzhou Campus)
2. Wired access
The PC or wired terminal is directly connected to the campus network through the cable, without authentication.
IV. Network services
Access to off-campus network resources on campus needs to be authenticated. Fees are required for external resources except for the library's free resources. There are currently two ways to access the Internet:
1. Open an SAM authentication and billing system account for the campus network, and one may access off-campus network resources after paying the fees.
2. Open an account at the network operator China Mobile. In the campus dormitory area, the campus network and Internet resources can be accessed via the broadband account at the network operator China Mobile. The user needs to bind the mobile broadband account to the SAM account for first-time login.
V. Network login instructions
Upon logging in to the SAM authentication page, the user needs to select the type of Internet service in addition to entering the username and password.
There are currently three Internet access services to choose from:
1. Campus intranet (campus network account)
The user may access the internal resources on the campus network, including the electronic resources such as free books on and off campus purchased by the university http://lib.hhu.edu.cn/databaselist.html.
2. Campus extranet (campus network account)
The user may access the internal resources on the campus network and Internet resources off campus.
3. Campus extranet (for mobile broadband export)
Users who have opened a broadband account at China Mobile should enter the SAM account name and password upon logging in for the first time. After selecting the Mobile Account Extranet service, the users should click login to have their mobile broadband account and password bound before accessing the campus intranet and Internet resources off campus. Users only need to repeat the steps above without binding the account for future login.
VI. Operating steps for online authentication
1. Obtain an account for Internet access: The student ID is the user name of the initial account, and the password will be informed by the International Education College.
2. Activate the account: Enter any web address off campus, and it will prompt the user to log in to the authentication and billing system (if it is not automatically popped up, please enter http://eportal.hhu.edu.cn or 10.96.0.155).
3. Account recharge: International students need to use the campus card to recharge the Internet account on the transfer machine first, or bind a mobile broadband account (see the mobile broadband details below for mobile account registration and use)
