Application for the 2024 Postgraduate Program under the Chinese Government Scholarship at Hohai University

I. About the Program

The Postgraduate Program for Chinese Government Scholarship is designed to identify and support international students who demonstrate excellent academic achievements, exceptional professional strength, and the potential to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in China.

 

II. Program Types

English taught master’s and doctoral programs.

 

III. Scholarship

The Chinese Government Scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, monthly allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance.

 

IV. Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports, in good physical and mental health, and are expected to comply with Chinese laws and regulations.

Chinese citizens who have acquired foreign nationalities are required to adhere to the relevant regulations stipulated by the Ministry of Education, China.

For master's degree applicants, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required, and applicants should be under the age of 35.

For doctoral degree applicants, a master’s degree or its equivalent is required, and applicants should be under the age of 40.

Nov. 14, 2023-Feb. 20, 2024.

 

VI. Application Procedure

1. Applicants are required to complete Hohai online application via https://admission.hhu.edu.cn. 

2. The International School will conduct an initial review, and successful applicants must proceed to pay the 400RMB application fee.

3. The respective Colleges will organize the review process, including the assessment of submitted materials, online interviews, and a comprehensive evaluation of applicants' academic achievements, research capabilities, and development potential. This evaluation will determine the list of recommended candidates.

4. The University Scholarship Committee will conduct a thorough review and finalize the list of recommended candidates.

5. The university will issue a Pre-admission notice to the recommended candidates.

6. Recommended candidates are required to complete the China Scholarship Council online application on http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ (Type B, Agency Number: 10294).

7. The China Scholarship Council will organize assessments to evaluate qualifications and make determinations accordingly.

8. Based on the evaluation results from the China Scholarship Council, the University will notify applicants of their admission status and subsequently prepare formal Admission Notices, Visa Application for Foreign Students Coming to China (Form JW201), and other essential materials.


VII. Application Documents

1. Scanned copy of the passport (Valid after Dec.31, 2024).

2. Scanned copies of all original diplomas and degrees starting from undergraduate (Chinese or English version). Those yet to graduate should provide proof of graduation from their current school. The expected degree completion date should be earlier than Aug.31, 2024. The diploma/degree must be submitted during registration.

3. Scanned copies of original transcripts, including all courses starting from undergraduate (Chinese or English version).

4. Curriculum vitae detailing consecutive study and work experiences since undergraduate. Full study experience is required for those who have studied in China.

5. Personal statement and study plan in English, encompassing academic background, educational and work experiences, academic achievements, research plans, development targets, etc. (at least 1500 words).

6. English language proficiency certificate (For applicants from non-English speaking countries, TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, or other proof of English proficiency is required).

7. Two recommendation letters from associate professors or above in a related academic field (English or Chinese version), with the recommender’s signature and contact information.

8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form(Attachment 1). The applicant should conduct the examination strictly according to the list. Incomplete forms, forms without the applicant's photo or official seal, forms without the examination date, and forms without a physician's signature or hospital stamps are considered invalid. The result is valid for 6 months.

9. Financial proof (either the family deposit certificate, property certificate, or parent/guardian income certificate, with a suggestion of over $5000).

10. Catalogue and abstract of published papers, if there’s any.

11. Non-criminal record. Those yet to graduate may provide proof of good performance at the current university.

Note:

1. Certificates must be original or notarized in Chinese or English.

2. The files must be colored scanned copies of the original ones.

3. Applicants must guarantee that the provided information and materials are accurate and genuine without any counterfeiting; otherwise, admission will be cancelled.
